Sandbondtenga/Lent and Fasting: An Interfaith Communion to Strengthen Community Life in Barsalogho

Sandbondtenga: The various religious denominations of Barsalogho came together on Friday, March 6, 2026, with the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of the sector 2 site, on the occasion of a collective ceremony to break the fast and the Lenten fast.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was organised by the Nabonswend© Women's Association of Burkina Faso (AFNB) and included representatives of different religious communities, internally displaced persons, host and returnee populations, as well as administrative and security authorities of the commune.

Speeches were delivered followed by a fraternal meal, marking the event. The president of AFNB, Pascaline Sawadogo/Ou©draogo Somb©, stated that the aim was to strengthen fraternity, social cohesion, religious tolerance, and communal living. "This strong mobilization of the different religious communities pleases us and reinforces our belief that true peace is possible," she expressed.

Chief Warrant Officer Mathias Sansan Pal©, the president of the special municipal delegation of Barsalogho, praised the initiative. He mentioned that it aligns with a call from the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, for solidarity and fraternity among the citizens of Burkina Faso.

Imam Abdoul Salam Maga, acting as spokesperson for the religious communities, emphasized that promoting social cohesion and peace aligns with religious values of brotherhood, love, and solidarity towards one's neighbor.
