Sandbondtenga/JEPPc 2026: Pissila Celebrates First Phase Conclusion with Cultural Festivities

Sandbondtenga: The municipality of Pissila concluded, on Thursday, the first phase of the third edition of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC) with a community day, marked by an exhibition of local know-how and a popular celebration to the rhythm of cultural melodies.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this day began with a solemn raising of the national colors and was marked by tastings of local dishes presented by different communities within the municipality. The public was able to enjoy the flavors of local specialties such as "gaonre," "piga," "guelboam," "borogo," and many others.

This mini community fair was accompanied by musical entertainment from traditional troupes performing ancestral rhythms such as "yarma," "k¨gba," "warba," and "niyaydo."

In a festive atmosphere, participants relished these dishes, which have become rare in modern diets. While some young people were discovering certain dishes for the first time, adults expressed a sense of nostalgia. "There are dishes I saw a very long time ago," confided Issa Sawadogo, who now promises to regularly request these local dishes from his family.

This closing day of activities within the framework of the JEPPC was also used by the municipal authority to recall and explain the message of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore.

The president of the special municipal delegation of Pissila, Tambi Zouma, explained the message in the national language Moore, emphasizing the essential points. He urged the people to remember and take ownership of the President's key messages, including: "A good child is one who buys his mother's cakes," "The time for mental conditioning is over," and "The time for shame about our products is over," while inviting them to anchor the slogan "My plate, my pride" in their daily lives.
