Boussouma: The Association of Muslim Students in Burkina Faso (AEEMB) has teamed up with the Circle of Islamic Studies, Research and Training (CERFI) of Sandbondtenga to launch the 29th edition of its Islamic summer camp. The event, which began on Saturday in Boussouma, is themed "The Muslim child and African traditions."

According to Burkina Information Agency, the camp will run for fifteen days, from August 1st to 15th, and is designed for 125 children aged 7 to 15 from various municipalities in the province. Participants will engage in a comprehensive program that includes learning the Holy Quran, understanding the principles of Islam, exploring the history of significant Muslim figures, and participating in socio-educational and recreational activities.

Moussa Zoundi, the permanent secretary of the holiday camps, emphasized the importance of the theme, explaining that the camp aims to cultivate a deep attachment to the Islamic faith among children while also appreciating African traditions. These traditions are rooted in respect for elders, solidarity, discipline, and communal living, which are seen as crucial in preventing radicalization.

The camp also seeks to enrich the religious, cultural, and civic identity of its young participants. By fostering awareness of the dangers of radicalization, religious extremism, and hate speech, the program intends to instill respect for authority and community values.

The opening ceremony was graced by the moral authority of His Majesty Naaba Sigri, Dima of Boussouma. This year's edition is supported by El Hadj Ousmane Sawadogo, Chairman and CEO of Kalambaogo Transport.
