Sandbondtenga Hosts Inaugural Cultural Days Celebrating Unity and Resilience

Sandbondtenga: The Provincial Directorate of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training of Sandbondtenga organized the first edition of the Cultural Days of School Communities on April 23 and 24, 2026, under the theme: 'Through our voices, our cultural and artistic practices, let us unite for peace and resilience!'

According to Burkina Information Agency, students from high schools and middle schools in Sandbondtenga celebrated culture in a spirit of living together, peace, and resilience. The event took place at the Moussa Kargougou Provincial High School, bringing together students, teachers, and parents for a rich and diverse program.

These 48 hours of culture were marked by a conference on social cohesion in schools, traditional dance, slam and storytelling competitions, as well as a women's cycling race. The closing ceremony was marked by the announcement and presentation of awards to the winners. Cultural performances by students, a parade of communities, and a tasting of local dishes also highlighted the ceremony.

The jury, praising the cultural and artistic potential of the schools, recommended the regular encouragement of such initiatives to promote the development of talent. For the provincial director and initiator of the event, Hamad© Tinto, these days constitute a privileged framework for promoting social cohesion, peace and resilience through culture and art.

"School is the temple of cultural diversity, fraternity and hope for our youth, given the number of families represented in each establishment," he stressed. The provincial secretary general, Pasn©wend¨ Ou©draogo, representing the High Commissioner who was patron of the ceremony, recalled the crucial role of education stakeholders as "gardeners of this tree of diversity".

He encourages them to develop initiatives to transmit the values of mutual tolerance and excellence within schools. The first edition of the Cultural Days of the School Communities of Sandbondtenga was co-sponsored by Lieutenant-Colonel Akim Adewale Adeguerou, commander of the departmental gendarmerie group of D©dougou, and Dr. Abdoul Razakh Ciss©, pharmacist in Kaya.
