Sourou: Salimata Traoré wins the women’s cycling race of the 2nd edition of FESTIFCS-T. Salimata Traoré claimed victory in the women’s cycling race during the second edition of the Festival Fier de ma Culture San (FESTIFCS-T) held in Tougan.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event kicked off on Thursday, April 3, 2025, featuring a women’s cycling competition. The race saw the participation of 12 women, competing on a five-kilometer circuit that required two laps, making it a total of ten kilometers. Salimata Traoré emerged as the winner, crossing the finish line ahead of her competitors.
After securing her win, Traoré expressed her joy, stating, “I’m very happy today to be first. I didn’t have enough time to prepare and I was scared. Thank God I was able to hold on. Thanks to the organizers who allowed us to test ourselves on the bike once again.” Following her, Latifatou Traoré, Clarisse Gomina, Déborah Drabo, and Jullipette Zouri completed the race in the subsequent positions.

emed “Cultural Mix in Burkina: Challenges for the Preservation of San Identity and Cultural Practices,” was sponsored by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility, Émile Zerbo. Additional support came from the Honorable Daniel Sawadogo and Commander Karim Souabo, Director General of the National Fund for the Promotion of Sport and Leisure (FNPSL).
The second edition of the Proud of My San Culture Festival continued with various activities such as traditional wrestling, dance troupe performances, and lectures on cultural themes, culminating on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
