Salif Keita Endorses Burkina Faso’s Transitional Leader

Ouagadougou – Malian musician Salif Keita met with Captain Ibrahim Traore, President of the Transitional Government in Burkina Faso, on Saturday morning in Ouagadougou. This meeting occurred ahead of Keita’s concert scheduled for Sunday, December 10.

According to Burkina Information Agency, during their encounter, Keita expressed support for President Traore’s initiatives, including efforts to reclaim national territory, the formation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), and his vision for an independent Africa.

Keita’s visit to Burkina Faso highlights his backing for the AES, a collaboration among three countries in the Liptako Gourma region. Renowned for his dedication to African unity and prosperity, Keita recently stepped down from the Malian Transitional Legislative Assembly to serve as a special advisor to Malian President Assimi Goïta.
