Sahelian Artistic and Cultural Days for Peace to Debut in Dori

Dori: The first edition of the Sahelian Artistic and Cultural Days for Peace (JSP) is set to take place from May 21 to 23, 2026, in Dori. The event will focus on the theme: 'Development, resilience and peace in Burkina Faso: what contribution from the people of Liptako?', as announced by the organizing committee during a press conference on Saturday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the communications officer, Hamadou Bouraima, stated that the initiative seeks to unite cultural actors to address challenges related to social cohesion, development, and peacebuilding in the Liptako and Soum region. Bouraima emphasized the event's goal of showcasing the artistic and cultural heritage of the region alongside community initiatives that promote coexistence.

Kalilou Dicko, a member of the organizing committee, shared that the inaugural edition will feature thematic panels, participatory workshops, artistic performances, and board games. He highlighted the main objective as creating a platform for interactions among people, artists, and social actors to foster peace and harmonious living.

The JSP's initiator, Ali Bokoum, who is the special envoy to the Presidency of Faso for the Liptako region, mentioned that distinguished guests and artists from local, national, and international backgrounds will take part in the activities. He described the event as an opportunity for sharing, reflection, and promoting Sahelian cultural expressions.

Through these cultural days, the organizers aspire to utilize culture as a means for dialogue and social cohesion, aiming to enhance the resilience of the populations in Liptako and Soum.
