SAFA Mourns the Loss of Basil “Section 10” Gwangwa

TSHWANE – The South African Football Association (SAFA) has extended condolences to the family of the late football player Basil “Section 10” Gwangwa.

According to South African Football Association, Gwangwa, a former player for Pretoria Callies and Cosmos, passed away at Kalafong Hospital in Tshwane on Thursday, 9 November 2023, following a short illness.

Gwangwa’s Life and Legacy

Family spokesperson Molatelo Malehopo confirmed the passing of 57-year-old Gwangwa, who was born in Atteridgeville. He is survived by his son and two siblings.

Memorial and Funeral Services

Gwangwa’s memorial service is scheduled to be held at the Atteridgeville Hall from 1 to 4 pm today (Thursday). His funeral service is set for Saturday morning, 18 November 2023, at the Mbolekwa Sports Complex, followed by his burial at the Rebecca Cemetery in Tshwane.
