Zondoma: The second edition of the Customs and Traditions Day was celebrated on May 15, 2025, at the Royal Palace of Gourcy. Sacrifices and communications on the value of traditions punctuated the celebration.

According to Burkina Information Agency, under the auspices of His Majesty Naaba Baongo, Chief of Gourcy, the event was attended by court dignitaries, customary chiefs, students from high schools and colleges, and the community. The celebration was marked by sacrifices on the royal altar, known as the Kiims© house, and emphasized the significance of customs and traditions, particularly for the student participants. Chief Naaba Baongo expressed gratitude towards the government and the Head of State for dedicating a day to customs and traditions and recognizing the status of customary chiefs.

The Chief of Gourcy expressed a desire for cultural values to be included in school curriculums and encouraged the celebration of customs in harmony with other religions. Sogoba Hanifatou, a student from Saint-Henri de Osso High School, shared her experience of learning about traditional prohibitions and behaviors from the chiefs. The event also included two Haitian citizens who participated by sacrificing chickens and requested to be adopted into the Gourcy royal family.

In the Guelba district, the Tengsoba family, known for holding the sacrificial knife, conducted sacrifices of chickens and goats to promote peace, social cohesion, and a favorable rainy season. The establishment of May 15th as a day for customs and traditions aims to reaffirm the secularism of the State, promote ancestral values and practices, and encourage unity among diverse communities.
