Seoul: South Korea’s parliament approved the appointment of prime minister nominee Kim Min-seok on Thursday. The motion to appoint Kim, a four-term lawmaker from the ruling Democratic Party, garnered 173 votes in favor, with three against and three marked as invalid.
According to Namibia Press Agency, out of the 300 members of the ruling party-controlled National Assembly, lawmakers from the conservative opposition People Power Party abstained from voting. They have been calling for Kim’s voluntary resignation.
Kim Min-seok was nominated for the position of prime minister on June 4, coinciding with the inauguration of President Lee Jae-myung.
