Beijing — The Russian-language touring production of the musical "Anna Karenina" made its premiere at the Beijing Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday. The show, based on Leo Tolstoy's famed novel, will feature performances by its original cast through Friday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, "Anna Karenina" has garnered acclaim since its initial stage debut in 2016. The musical's arrival in Beijing marks a significant cultural exchange and offers local audiences the opportunity to experience a major Russian theatrical production firsthand.
The Beijing Performing Arts Centre, which operates under the auspices of the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), is set to continue its season with high-profile international works. Following "Anna Karenina," the Centre will host the original version of the iconic musical "Cats" in November, and in December, it will debut its first original musical production, "War and Peace."
