Moscow: Russian air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a significant number of Ukrainian aerial threats, including 170 drones and various missiles, overnight, as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the ministry detailed that between 22:00 and 05:00 local time, on-duty air defense units managed to down 170 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of airplane type. The operation saw the destruction of up to 96 drones over Crimea, 47 over the Krasnodar Territory, nine over the Rostov Region, eight each over the Bryansk and Kursk Regions, and two more over the Belgorod Region.
In addition to the drones, Russian defenses also neutralized eight Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles and three Ukrainian Neptune-MD guided missiles over the Black Sea, highlighting the comprehensive scale of the overnight defense operation.
Furthermore, the statement from the ministry noted the Black Sea Fleet’s active engagement, where its firepower led to the destruction of 14 Ukrainian unmanned boats in the Black Sea waters between 23:00 and 02:00 GMT.
