Ruminant Vaccination Campaign Launched in Gayeri to Protect Livestock

Gayeri: The High Commissioner of Komondjari Province, Mr. Valentin Gnanou, officially launched the ruminant vaccination campaign in Gayeri at the headquarters of the Tin-Tin-Tua association. This initiative seeks to bolster livestock protection against significant animal diseases.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch was attended by the interim Prefect of the Gayeri department, Mr. Monmini Sinare, and the interim provincial Director of police, Mr. Appolinaire Nombre. The High Commissioner emphasized the campaign's critical role in enhancing the resilience of the agro-pastoral sector in the Sirba region.

The vaccination teams aim to immunize at least 5,000 ruminants within Gayeri and have set a nationwide target of 15 million vaccinated animals. The campaign includes cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, and other domestic animals. Mr. Gnanou urged livestock farmers and the local population to actively participate in the campaign to ensure the operation's success and the long-term safety of livestock.

The vaccination program is subsidized by the State, with vaccines administered free of charge to small ruminants. Costs are set at 50 CFA francs per sheep and 20 CFA francs per poultry, as detailed by the technical services managing the campaign.
