Zondoma: The village of Kindibo, located in the Tougo commune, inaugurated a roundabout to honor the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and the Defense and Security Forces (FDS). The ceremony took place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, as part of efforts to recognize the dedication of these groups in maintaining peace, security, and social cohesion in the area.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative was spearheaded by the association "Kindibo mon village." During the event, Boureima Souley, the President of the special delegation for the commune of Tougo, commended the bravery and duty of the VDP and FDS. He urged the community to embrace patriotism and rally around national values, emphasizing the importance of national pride during the era marked by Captain Ibrahim Traore's leadership.
In a symbolic gesture, the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) and the Tougo police station were awarded certificates of recognition for their commitment to national values and community welfare. Additionally, the President of the special delegation received a certificate of appreciation. The VDP post in Kindibo was also presented with seven bags of rice and 68,875 CFA francs.
The families of two VDP members who lost their lives on a mission received a bag of rice and 15,000 CFA francs each. The event was attended by traditional chiefs, members of citizen watch coordination groups from Gourcy and Ouahigouya, and numerous local residents.
