Roads Authority Unveils Road Management System Hub in Windhoek

Windhoek: The Roads Authority (RA) on Tuesday officially launched the Road Management System (RMS) Hub in Windhoek. Speaking at the launch, RA board chairperson Martins Kambulu highlighted the significance of the RMS Hub, which features real-time traffic monitoring, drone-based inspections, video surveillance, and upcoming project control systems.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Kambulu emphasized that with limited public funding, the RMS is essential to optimize investments, evaluate life cycle costs, and minimize total transport costs in line with the Road Fund Administration Act. He stated that the hub is not only an innovation but also a crucial tool for improving efficiency and sustainability in road management.

Roads Authority Chief Executive Officer, Conrad Lutombi, called for collaboration, learning, and reflection in the use of the new hub. He explained that the hub is more than a showcase and serves as a reminder of the progress in road management. It highlights eight themes, including the historical evolution of RMS, the introduction of the Integrated Road Asset Management System, and other key aspects such as the national road network map and the RMS within the Roads Authority framework.

Lutombi added that the RMS Hub was developed specifically for Namibia to enhance the integrated management of the country's road network, aiming to put Namibia on the global map through improved road infrastructure management.
