Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAOR€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬° chaired the weekly Council of Ministers meeting this Wednesday. During the press briefing at the end of the meeting, the Minister and Government Spokesperson, Pingdwend© Gilbert OU€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬°DRAOGO, indicated that several reports had been adopted and important decisions taken for the smooth running of the nation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Accessibility, the Council adopted a draft decree on the modalities for managing tolls on paved roads within the borders of Burkina Faso. The Minister of Infrastructure, Adama Luc SORGHO, highlighted that the major innovation of this decree is that heavy goods vehicles will be taxed based on the number of axles.
“We were able to develop a system at modern stations where installed sensors identify the number of axles. The more you modify the vehicle, the more you pay. This allows the Special Road Fund to mobilize funds for road maintenance,” explains Minister SORGHO. He specifies that this provision does not apply to light vehicles, vans, motorcycles, and tricycles, whose rates remain unchanged.
