Ouagadougou: As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance road safety under the ‘Safe Roads with Russia’ project, the Russian-Burkinabe association ‘African Initiative’ has handed over a new batch of road signs to the town hall of district 12 in Ouagadougou. This delivery marks the third installment in a series of contributions aimed at improving traffic regulation and reducing accidents in the area.

According to Burkina Information Agency, a total of 25 road signs were delivered to the special delegation of district 12 by the African Initiative on Monday, November 25, 2024. This initiative is a significant part of the ‘Safe Roads with Russia’ project, which seeks to address road safety challenges in the district. Kayaba Esaïe Ouédraogo, the first vice-president of the special delegation of district 12, expressed his gratitude and noted the positive impact these signs are having on the district’s appearance.

Mr. Ouédraogo emphasized that the new signs are expected to play a crucial role in reducing accidents,
despite some ongoing issues with local incivility. He acknowledged that there is a growing awareness and respect for road signs among residents, which is a promising development.

Soumaila Ayo Azenwo, president of the African Initiative, explained that with this third batch, the total number of road signs provided to the district now stands at 65. He also mentioned plans to donate an additional ten signs, including those for children’s crossings and priority roads, to further meet the town hall’s request for 100 road signs.

The African Initiative remains committed to supporting the road safety needs of Ouagadougou’s 12th district, with hopes that their efforts will contribute to a safer and more orderly traffic environment.
