Road Infrastructure: Director General Moumouni ILBOUDO Assesses Construction Sites in Three Regions

Ouagadougou: The Director General of Transport Infrastructure (DGIT), Moumouni ILBOUDO, began a monitoring mission on the road construction sites currently underway in the West of the country. The mission commenced on Monday, May 26, 2025, and involves a detailed assessment of infrastructure projects in the Boucle du Mouhoun, Southwest, and Hauts-Bassins regions. This mission, slated to run until May 30, 2025, aims to evaluate the progress of ongoing road construction, paving, and rehabilitation efforts as part of the government's national priority strategy.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Moumouni ILBOUDO, accompanied by several team members, emphasized the importance of maintaining direct contact with stakeholders and regularly monitoring the progress of work throughout the country. The Director General stated, "In accordance with the government's policy of highlighting national priorities, road construction, paving, and rehabilitation work is of particular importance."

During this field mission, the team inspected several key projects in the regions. The projects include Regional Road No. 11 (RR11) from Kolinka to Fara to Poura Crossroads covering 92 km, National Road No. 12 (RN12) from Pa to Dano to Di©bougou spanning 93 km, National Road No. 11 (RN11) from Gaoua to Bati© extending 68.5 km, and Regional Road No. 36 (RR36) from Dand© to Kourouma. The visits also included inspections of quarry sites used for sourcing construction materials.

Data from these monitoring missions reveal varying progress rates across different projects. The RR11 (Kolinka - Fara - Poura) shows 42% execution for 84% of time consumed, RN12 (Pa - Dano - Di©bougou) is at 52% execution for 93.78% of time consumed, RN11 (Gaoua - Bati©) stands at 46.17% execution for 74.53% of time consumed, and RR36 (Dand© - Kourouma) has an execution rate of 62.18% for 100% of time consumed.

The Director General expressed concern over these figures, particularly the unsatisfactory progress in certain projects. He issued firm instructions to the companies responsible, emphasizing the necessity of adhering to contractual deadlines and ensuring the quality of the work. The inspection tour will continue across other construction sites in the coming days.

The team accompanying Moumouni ILBOUDO includes the Director of Interurban Road Works, the Director of Urban Road Works, heads of relevant departments, and representatives of project units. This comprehensive technical mobilization highlights the DGIT's commitment to rigorous and close monitoring of construction activities.
