Road Accidents Claim Lives in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan and Nangarhar Provinces

Badakhshan: Two people were killed and four others sustained injuries when a vehicle veered off the road and overturned in northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, the provincial department of information and culture said in a statement. The accident occurred in Yawan district when a vehicle belonging to a goldsmith company collided with a mobile clinic, resulting in the immediate death of two workers and injuries to four others.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the crash was attributed to reckless driving. The statement added that the injured have been shifted to a nearby health center for medical attention. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety in the region.

In a separate incident on Monday, a female doctor and another person lost their lives, with eight others injured, in a road accident in eastern Nangarhar province. These incidents underscore the persistent issue of road safety in Afghanistan, where reckless driving, poorly maintained roads, and inadequate safety measures continue to lead to frequent fatal traffic accidents.
