Road Accident Claims Three Lives in Eastern Afghanistan

Laghman: Three people, including a woman and a child, lost their lives, and five others sustained injuries in a road accident in eastern Afghanistan's Laghman province, as reported by the provincial police office late Thursday. The tragic incident occurred in the Kakakh region along the main highway connecting the capital Kabul with eastern provinces when a passenger vehicle collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

According to Namibia Press Agency, reckless driving was identified as the primary cause of the accident. This incident marks the third fatal road crash in Afghanistan within the past week. Earlier on Tuesday, a vehicle veered off a mountain road and plunged into a ravine in northern Faryab province, resulting in nine fatalities and 16 injuries. Additionally, on Sunday, a head-on collision in western Herat province claimed 10 lives and injured more than 10 others.

Road accidents continue to be a significant issue in Afghanistan, largely due to poor road conditions, reckless driving practices, vehicle overloading, excessive speeding, and the challenging terrain.
