Rising Starlets Set for FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier Against Cameroon

Yaounde, Cameroon – Coach Beldine Odemba of the Rising Starlets has announced the squad for their upcoming FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier match against Cameroon. The first leg of the third round is scheduled for Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Yaounde, Cameroon, marking a crucial step in their journey towards the World Cup.

According to Kenya News Agency, the Rising Starlets are coming off a dominant performance in the second round, where they achieved a 10-1 aggregate victory over Angola. Coach Odemba noted that the team is in good health with no injuries reported in the camp. Despite the absence of eight players who are currently sitting for their KCSE exams, replacements have stepped up, ensuring the team’s competitiveness remains intact.

The Rising Starlets are focused on advancing to the fourth round, where they would face the winner of the Congo-Egypt match. A victory in the fourth round would secure them a spot in the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, a significant milestone for the team.

The match against Cameroon is set to commence at 7 p.m. East African Time on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo. The squad named for this critical encounter includes goalkeepers Scovia Awuor, Christine Omolo, and Ivonne Minage.
