Ouagadougou: The Dam Kania festival concluded with the award ceremony for the Ouagadougou School Talent Artistic Competition (CATSO), where Rimvougr© Municipal High School emerged victorious in the sketch and song categories.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Rimvougr© High School received a total of 525,000 FCFA and certificates for its achievements. The school claimed first place in sketch and song, earning 150,000 FCFA and certificates for each category. Additionally, they secured third place in orchestra, slam, and song, which brought them another 75,000 FCFA and a certificate.
The jury also announced Juv©nat Gar§on Saint Camille as the best orchestra, awarding them 150,000 FCFA and a certificate. In slam and dance, Nelson Mandela High School and Le Technicien Private High School took first prizes, each receiving 150,000 FCFA and a certificate.
Second prizes in the orchestra, sketch, and slam categories went to the Association musicale des enfants du monde (AMEM), Paspanga municipal high school, and Gabriel Tabourin high school, respectively. Meanwhile, the National Institute for Artistic and Cultural Training (INAFAC) and ‰mergence C high school claimed second prizes in song and dance. All second prize winners were awarded 100,000 FCFA and certificates.
The competition featured themes such as academic resilience, patriotism, education, and culture. Dr. Jean No«l Bonkoungou, representing the Minister of Culture, praised the students’ talents and emphasized the festival’s role in promoting Burkina Faso’s cultural values among students.
Dr. Bonkoungou affirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting educational and civic initiatives for students, stating that human capital investment is crucial for national development. The Director General of CENASA, Abraham Ouess©na Abassagu©, expressed a desire to expand the competition to all high schools nationwide.
