RFA Donates N$9 Million and Vehicles to Namibian Police Force

Windhoek, Namibia – The Road Fund Administration (RFA) has made a significant contribution to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) by donating N$9 million and 22 vehicles. This donation, announced on Friday, is part of the RFA’s corporate responsibility initiatives.

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), Lieutenant-General Joseph Shikongo, the Inspector General of NamPol, stated during the handover ceremony that the vehicles would bolster NamPol’s efforts to provide quality service to the Namibian people and visitors. He emphasized the importance of the donation in enhancing police visibility on national roads and recalled a Memorandum of Understanding signed between NamPol and RFA on October 11, 2021, for funding traffic law enforcement operations.

Shikongo remarked that the donated vehicles represent the public’s trust in the police force and stressed NamPol’s duty to use and maintain them judiciously.

RFA Chief Executive Officer, Ali Ipinge, spoke about the RFA’s role as a road infrastructure maintenance funding organization. He acknowledged the challenges of policing a modern, tech-savvy society and the need for concerted efforts from various stakeholders to make progress in road safety initiatives. Ipinge highlighted the RFA’s commitment to ensuring efficient and equitable funding of road maintenance through the collection of road user charges.
