Retired Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo Announces Candidacy for President of Burkinabè Football Federation

OUAGADOUGOU — Retired Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo is set to run for the presidency of the Burkinabè Football Federation (FBF), representing the Sports Union of the Armed Forces (USFA), according to a recent announcement from the military club.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Sawadogo, who previously served as the central director of the army sports service and was also the president of the USFA Executive Committee for five years, is driven by an ambitious project to elevate Burkinabè football. The USFA plans to initiate consultations with districts, leagues, and clubs to rally support for Sawadogo's candidacy. This election marks another instance of a Burkinabè military officer seeking the top position in the federation, with the election scheduled for August 31.
