Residents of Kongoussi Provide Substantial Support to Local Security Forces in Poura

Bal©: Residents of Kongoussi living in Poura provide support to the FDS and VDP, valued at 859,000 FCFA: The association of Kongoussi natives residing in Poura and Fara made a donation in kind and in cash to the local Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). The handover ceremony took place at the Poura town hall on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation consists of 60 bags of 25kg rice, 4 20-litre cans of oil, 1 carton of Taod©ni tea, 5 cartons of pasta, 1 carton of sugar, and an envelope containing 100,000 FCFA. The donations were first presented to the President of the Special Delegation (PDS), Momini Sawadogo, who then distributed them to the beneficiaries. The association's spokesperson stated that the gesture aims to support the daily efforts of the security forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) to ensure the safety of people and property in the commune of Poura.

The representative of the VDP expressed his satisfaction, emphasizing the importance of security for the prosperity of community activities. "Supporting the soldiers means contributing to the rapid return of peace to our country," he said.

His Majesty Kimazan Michel Nignan, the traditional chief of Poura, highlighted the importance of social cohesion and collaboration between the security forces and the population. He urged the security forces and volunteers to remain vigilant and called for unity among the citizens.

The PDS thanked the donors and encouraged other citizens to emulate the generosity of the Kongoussi people. The ceremony also saw the attendance of several dignitaries, including the secretary general of the town hall, the commander of the gendarmerie brigade of Poura, and officials from the municipal coordination of citizen vigilance.
