Residents Mobilize to Fill Potholes on Chiphra-Tampouy Road in Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou: Residents of Tanghin, located in the 4th district of Ouagadougou, took matters into their own hands on Tuesday by filling potholes on the road section connecting the Protestant hospital-CHIPHRA to the North interchange. The initiative aims to curb the occurrence of accidents along this busy stretch. According to Burkina Information Agency, the community effort involved local vendors, including those selling fish, coffee, and ice cream near the apostolical church. They have taken this action as part of a broader contribution to civic engagement and participation in Burkina Faso. Abdoul Moutalib Ilboudo, speaking on behalf of the Tanghin residents, emphasized that the initiative is intended to support President Ibrahim Traoré's strategy for restoring the integrity of the national territory. Ilboudo noted that the road is frequently used by Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), highlighting the importance of preventing accidents for all road users. The local effort aligns with a call from the Head of State, Captain Traoré, encouraging Burkinabe citizens to engage in civic activities for national development. In practical terms, a truck delivered earth to the site the previous night, and residents quickly organized to fill the potholes rather than waiting for municipal intervention. Ilboudo expressed that local residents are directly affected by the road's condition and feel compelled to address its deterioration. He further stated that unity is crucial, urging the Burkinabe people to rally around President Traoré for the nation's prosperity. Ilboudo also extended gratitude to the FDS and VDP for their continued service and commitment to the country's safety and development.
