Remains of Healthcare Professionals Arrive in Uige for Burial

Uige: The coffins containing the remains of two healthcare professionals from Uige province, who perished in the Cabo Ledo road accident in Icolo e Bengo Province, have been returned to Uige Province from Luanda.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the tragic accident resulted in the deaths of the nursing director of the Negage Municipal Hospital, Distinto Andre Paixo, and the nursing supervisor of the Uige Sanatorium Hospital, Bem-Vindo Lucas. In total, the accident claimed 11 lives and left 34 others injured.

Health minister Silvia Lutucuta was present at Manuel Quarta Punza Airport in Uige city to oversee the arrival of the remains. She addressed the bereaved families and the population of U­ge, acknowledging the significant loss.

Local governor Jos© Carvalho da Rocha expressed that the tragedy represents an irreparable loss for both the families and the healthcare sector in the region.

The memorial ceremony included prayers, the signing of a condolence book, and the reading of messages from various institutions recognizing the professionalism and dedication of those who lost their lives.

Following the ceremony, Minister S­lvia Lutucuta plans to travel to the province of Cabinda to accompany the remains of four other healthcare professionals who also succumbed to the same accident.
