Banfora – The rehabilitation of the Takaledougou road, located in the commune of Banfora along the RN7, is progressing with a completion rate of 30%, reported just one week after the commencement of the works. The road maintenance initiative was inspected by Salfo Paceré, Director General of Road Maintenance, who expressed satisfaction with the ongoing progress.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the project entails the reconstruction of a dike and the reconstitution of an embankment, which includes its protection. The urgency of these repairs was triggered by a torrential rain event that caused significant erosion to the road’s embankment. “We are at an execution rate of 30%, and the primary challenges we face are related to rainfall, which forces work suspensions, and issues with borrowing sites,” Paceré stated during his site visit on August 9, 2024.

The director general further reassured that solutions to the challenges with borrowing sites have been effectively addressed, with no ongoing concerns regarding material samples. He highlighted that the main goal of the reconstruction is to maintain traffic flow and facilitate the transport of goods along this crucial national route. Paceré added, “First, we secured a company that is proficiently handling the repairs, ensuring that traffic continues albeit alternately. We urge road users to remain cautious and patient, adhering to the traffic management directives issued.”

This rehabilitation effort underscores the government’s prioritization of maintaining key transportation axes, including national and community roads, to prevent disruptions and enhance infrastructural reliability.
