Register For SHA And Seek Treatment, Elgeyo Marakwet Residents Urged

Elgeyo marakwet: Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich has called on area residents to register for SHA and seek health services from any of the 131 public health facilities in the county. Rotich assured residents that the county government had ensured that there were enough drugs in the facilities, adding that the facilities will remain open during the festive season.

According to Kenya News Agency, the governor made these remarks in his office in Iten when he received a consignment of drugs from the Kagoech Foundation, run by long-time ODM politician Micah Kigen. The drugs are to be distributed to five high-volume facilities: Biretwo, Simotwo, Kocholwo, Flax, and Chepkorio. Rotich emphasized that residents should not hesitate to seek treatment as medical staff are on duty and the county has ensured an adequate supply of drugs.

Rotich also expressed that his government is open to receiving support from all residents. He encouraged professionals not just to critique the government but also to contribute solutions to the challenges faced by the county. 'Running a county is not easy and requires the efforts of all of us to succeed,' he said, urging active participation from the community.

Meanwhile, Micah Kigen, who has committed to running two medical camps in the county, urged residents diagnosed with various illnesses to acquire necessary drugs now available at the health facilities due to his organization's contributions. He mentioned plans to expand the medical camps to cover the entire county next year, with an aim to involve both local and international partners in supporting the initiative.
