Regional Training on Conflict Management Held in Bobo-Dioulasso


Bobo-Dioulasso – From April 15 to 19, 2024, Bobo-Dioulasso hosted a training workshop aimed at enhancing the conflict management skills of participants from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Ivory Coast. The event was organized under the Peaceful Cross-Border Pastoral Mobility and Social Stability in the Sahel Phase 2 Program (MOPSS-2), focusing on communication, negotiation, and mediation techniques.



According to Burkina Information Agency, one of the trainers, the workshop addressed critical aspects of non-violent conflict resolution, starting with communication skills, followed by negotiation, and concluding with mediation. The training, facilitated by the Dutch Development Organization (SNV) and the Association for the Promotion of Livestock in the Sahel and Savanna (APESS), was aimed at preparing the participants to effectively handle and prevent conflicts in their respective roles and regions. Abraham Somdo, Secretary General of the Hauts-Bassins region, underscored the importance of such initiatives for social cohesion and the peaceful management of natural resources amidst regional security challenges.
