Regional Leaders Highlight Green Legacy Initiative’s Role in Sustainable Development and Social Harmony

ADDIS ABABA - Chief Administrators of the Amhara and South West Ethiopia regions emphasized the critical role of the Green Legacy Initiative in fostering sustainable development and enhancing social cohesion. The initiative, which involved planting 600 million saplings nationwide today, seeks to address various environmental challenges exacerbated by climate change.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Chief Administrator of the Amhara Region, the initiative is a response to the urgent issues of climate change, desertification, and declining productivity. He noted that the program aims to improve agricultural productivity, prevent further environmental degradation, and ensure food security while fostering a harmonious relationship between humans and nature. Similarly, Negash Wagesho, Chief Administrator of the South West Ethiopia Region, pointed out that the Green Legacy Initiative plays a crucial role in comprehensive environmental protection and promotes economic growth by integrating the planting of economically valuable and edible saplings.
