Regional Launch of ‘Deme Sira’ Campaign in Nazinon Sparks Call for Solidarity

Nazinon: The Nazinon region was the focal point of an inspiring event as it hosted the regional launch of the national "Deme Sira" campaign at the Place de la Nation in Manga. The occasion was marked by a large assembly of administrative, traditional, religious, military, and paramilitary authorities, along with enthusiastic crowds who gathered to celebrate the theme of sharing.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Governor of Nazinon, Yvette Nacoulma, extended her gratitude to the Governor of the Koulse region, Blaise Ouedraogo, and his delegation for their crucial support, which facilitated the Solidarity Caravan's timely arrival. The Governor highlighted Nazinon's role as a refuge for internally displaced persons from regions grappling with security issues.

Governor Nacoulma emphasized the campaign's objective to reinvigorate the spirit of sharing. "No one is too poor to be unable to show solidarity, and no one is too wealthy to do without the solidarity of others," she remarked. She urged the community to develop a structured, participatory, and effective approach to solidarity, surpassing the existing spontaneous acts witnessed in the region.

Receiving the torch was portrayed as a significant call to action by the Governor. She appealed to the population to amplify acts of solidarity, particularly through sharing meals and contributing food, clothing, hygiene products, or money to aid vulnerable individuals.

During the ceremony, a spontaneous fundraising effort was initiated. The "Deme Sira" campaign, which began on November 14, 2025, is set to continue across the nation until January 31, 2026. Municipalities and decentralized services of the Ministry of Solidarity are designated to collect contributions from citizens, partners, and organizations.

A series of activities will accompany the Nazinon region's participation in the campaign, including a blood drive, a panel discussion, a forum theatre performance, a community cleanup day, and a friendly football match between parents. Following its time in Nazinon, the torch will proceed to the Nakambe region on December 6th.

The "Deme Sira" initiative, meaning the path of solidarity, is a national campaign launched by the government to bolster social cohesion and extend solidarity towards vulnerable populations through civic engagement.
