Ouagadougou: The Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility, Mr. Emile ZERBO, held a meeting on April 15, 2025, with a delegation from the Republic of Niger, led by Mr. Abdoukadri HAMA, the Director General of Territorial Administration, Deconcentration and Decentralization. This meeting aimed to facilitate a mutual exchange of experiences concerning the operations of local authorities in both countries.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the primary objective of the Nigerien mission was to learn from the effective practices implemented in Burkina Faso and seek guidance from Burkinabe authorities. Mr. Abdoukadri HAMA stated that the discussions focused on enhancing local management within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) by reflecting on strategies to boost resource mobilization for supporting local authorities.
Mr. Abdoukadri HAMA elaborated on the mission's objectives, indicating that the Nigerien delegation received valuable advice from Mr. Emile ZERBO to implement their activities effectively. The delegation also engaged in working sessions with various stakeholders involved in decentralization and local governance in Ouagadougou.
The discussions with Burkinabe technicians and decentralization colleagues were described as fruitful by Mr. Abdoukadri HAMA. He noted that these interactions resulted in a shared understanding and unified approach towards achieving the decentralization goals set by the highest authorities within the AES.
