Gaoua: The regional coordination of the Circle of Islamic Studies, Research and Training (CERFI) of Dj´r´ organized a regional conference at the amphitheater of the INFPE of Gaoua on Sunday, May 3, 2026, focusing on the theme "Islam and traditions."
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was held under the patronage of Souleymane Yoada, regional director of Trade and Industry of Dj´r´. The conference, led by Imam Yacouba Traore, attracted many faithful from the four provinces of Bougouriba, Noumbiel, Poni, and Ioba, indicating significant interest in the topic discussed.
The president of the CERFI National Executive Bureau conveyed a message through the regional coordinator, El Hadj Mohamed Ouattara. The message highlighted the dedication of regional and provincial coordinating bodies and underscored the theme's relevance. It emphasized the ongoing interactions between Islam and traditions, advocating for thorough reflection to enhance understanding of Islamic foundations.
The president stressed the importance of dialogue to identify shared values like solidarity, fraternity, and justice, aiming to guide the faithful toward practices aligned with Islamic teachings. In light of national challenges, he urged young people, religious leaders, and participants to commit more to peace, unity, and social cohesion.
Patron Souleymane Yoada remarked that the conference provides a platform for reflection, enabling a deeper understanding of religious foundations, valuing traditions compatible with Islamic principles, and discerning practices that require re-evaluation. He emphasized the integral role of Islam in societies deeply rooted in cultural and traditional values, calling for an understanding and analysis of the relationship between religious practices and traditions.
The event included readings from the Holy Quran, speeches, and supplications. Organizers noted that similar conferences were conducted simultaneously in different regions of the country.
