Uge: At least eight 500-liter water tanks for handwashing were delivered on Thursday to the general and municipal hospitals in Uge as part of the Angolan Red Cross’s Cholera Combat Program in the region. Since January of this year, the province of Uge has recorded 16 cases of cholera.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Elizeu Pereira, the Red Cross delegate in Uge, delivered the tanks, which will be used for handwashing. This measure aims to prevent the disease in the region. As part of the efforts to combat cholera, the institution is collaborating with the Provincial Health Office to educate the population on how to prevent and treat the disease.

Pereira explained that 160 volunteers are mobilizing the population in the municipalities of Uge, Negage, Songo, Maquela do Zombo, and Quimbele. Public health officials from Uge’s general and municipal hospitals attended the handover, among others.
