Reception Center for Displaced Pupils and Students Opens in Gourma

Gourma: The reception center for internally displaced pupils and students has been inaugurated to allow them to continue their studies. The governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando, inaugurated the reception center for internally displaced pupils and students in Fada N'Gourma, intended to offer a safe and conducive environment for the continuation of studies for young people affected by the security crisis. According to Burkina Information Agency, four local authorities-Fada N'Gourma, Logobou, Partiaga, and Tansarga-have collaborated in an inter-municipal cooperation to construct the center. "This center is a safe, peaceful environment conducive to educational success," the governor said, emphasizing that it offers decent living conditions, an environment suitable for learning, and a space where young people can find hope and stability. Ram Joseph Kafando assured that this infrastructure will allow the residents not only to continue their school and academic journey, but also to become "builders o f a stronger and more united region." Addressing the young beneficiaries, he invited them to make the center "a place of fraternity, solidarity and commitment where order and discipline will be constantly observed." On behalf of the residents, Rosa Combary expressed the gratitude of the pupils and students towards the authorities and partners. "We express our gratitude for this safe and conducive learning environment," she said, before affirming their commitment to living in harmony, behaving well, and producing excellent results at the end of the year. Rosa Combary also thanked the authorities for their commitment to education, especially that of young girls. The reception center, which is already operational, has an initial capacity of 80 residents and is equipped with all the necessary amenities. It was made possible thanks to the support of Swiss cooperation within the framework of phase 3 of the Decentralisation and Citizen Participation Support Programme (DEPAC III), at an estimated cost of over 211 m illion CFA francs. Ultimately, the facility, built on an area of 11,885.44 m², is expected to house up to 400 residents. The total cost of the project will then exceed one billion CFA francs.
