OPUWO: The Real Madrid Foundation has commenced a week-long football training program for young boys and girls in Opuwo, focusing on sports education and life skills development. The initiative, held at the Newman Katuta Stadium, aims to impart values such as discipline, equality, and respect to children aged 5 to 14 from six primary schools in the region.

These teams will have the opportunity to compete with those from other areas, with the best players advancing to form a national squad. “This team will then play against the other eight towns we have visited. Thereafter, we will select a national team that will go to Madrid, Spain, to compete in the Real Madrid Foundation tournament,” Tjongaerero explained.
Opuwo Mayor Rosa Mbinge Tjeundo also spoke at the event, highlighting the dual focus on skill development and talent cultivation. She noted the program’s potential to foster discipline and teamwork among young players, aiming to nurture not only future football stars but also young leaders who can inspire positive change in their community.
