Real Madrid Foundation Football Clinic Launches in Omuthiya with Focus on Youth Development

Omuthiya: The Oshikoto leg of the Real Madrid Foundation Football Clinic was officially launched in Omuthiya on Monday, bringing together young footballers, coaches, educators, and community stakeholders in a celebration of youth development through sport. According to Namibia Press Agency, the five-day clinic, running from 22 to 26 June 2026, aims to equip young participants with football skills while instilling important values such as discipline, teamwork, respect, and leadership. Speaking at the official opening ceremony, Deputy Director for Lifelong Learning, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture in the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC), Hilma Nangolo, highlighted the broader impact of sport on young people's development. Nangolo emphasized that learners participating in the clinic would gain valuable life skills that extend beyond the football field and into the classroom. Nangolo stated, 'The discipline, teamwork, and respect that learners acquire through sport c an positively influence their academic performance. These values help learners work effectively with others, listen to their teachers, and adhere to school rules.' She added that the football clinic aligns with the ministry's commitment to developing well-rounded, confident, and disciplined young people through a combination of sport and education. In his welcoming remarks, Omuthiya Mayor Wilbard Anyemba expressed pride in hosting the prestigious programme, describing it as an inspiring initiative that empowers youth through sport. 'Football is more than just a game. It teaches discipline, teamwork, respect, perseverance, and leadership-values that help shape responsible and successful citizens,' said Anyemba. He noted that the clinic provides participants with an opportunity not only to improve their football abilities but also to learn essential life skills that will benefit them both on and off the field. Anyemba commended the Real Madrid Foundation and its partners for investing in Namibia's youth and p romoting education, social inclusion, and personal growth through sport. He encouraged participants to make full use of the opportunity by listening to their coaches, working hard, and supporting one another throughout the programme.
