Ouagadougou: Former Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals and magistrate of exceptional rank, Dramane Yameogo, who died on June 27 in Ouagadougou at the age of 68, was buried on Tuesday, June 30 in his native village of Ramongo, following a religious service, in the presence of his family, relatives, administrative and judicial authorities, former collaborators as well as a large crowd who came to pay him a final tribute.
According to Burkina Information Agency, a somber and moving ceremony marked the farewell to a man who dedicated 38 years of his life to serving justice and the Burkinab¨ state. His wife, children, relatives, friends, and acquaintances accompanied him to his final resting place, paying tribute to a man whose career and personal qualities profoundly impacted his era.
The burial was marked by several tributes. On behalf of the Union of Retired Magistrates, the former President of the Council of State of Burkina Faso, Souleymane Coulibaly, paid tribute to the memory of a magistrate of exemplary integrity, whose loyalty, rigor, sense of fairness and dedication to public service will remain a reference for the Burkinabe judiciary.
The representative of the Autonomous Union of Burkinabe Magistrates (SAMAB) also paid a strong tribute to the illustrious deceased, recalling the lasting mark he leaves on the judicial world.
After his studies at the Ouezzin Coulibaly High School in Bobo-Dioulasso, then at the University of Ouagadougou, before continuing his education in Nice and Paris, Dramane Yameogo held several high-ranking government positions. He served as Prosecutor of Faso at the Ouagadougou High Court, Ambassador of Burkina Faso to the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 2003 to 2012, and then Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals from 2012 to 2014.
A magistrate of exceptional rank, he ended his career as government commissioner at the Court of Cassation in Ouagadougou before being admitted to retirement in 2023.
The deceased leaves behind a wife, three children, and a nation grateful to a man who dedicated his life to defending the law, consolidating justice, and serving the state.
In Ramongo as throughout Burkina Faso, his memory will remain that of a great servant of the Republic, whose legacy will continue to inspire present and future generations.
