Koup©la: Muslim worshippers in Koup©la gathered to celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the town’s communal grounds. The event, presided over by El Hadj Mohamadi Korgho, Imam of the Great Mosque of Koup©la, saw the participation of administrative and customary authorities, along with members of other religious denominations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration emphasized the longing for peace in Burkina Faso. In his sermon, Imam El Hadj Mohamadi Korgho urged the community to embrace solidarity and social cohesion during these challenging times. He highlighted the importance of peace of heart to come together and pray, noting the unity displayed by the presence of other religious communities during the Ramadan prayer.
The Metropolitan Archbishop of Koup©la, Mgr Gabriel Sayaogo, expressed his solidarity by joining the Muslim community in their celebrations, wishing them a joyous Eid al-Fitr. He pointed out the need for global peace and acknowledged the unity in Kourittenga, where internally displaced persons have found refuge. Bishop Sayaogo expressed optimism for continued religious harmony and collective efforts toward a peaceful and united world.
His Majesty Naaba Yemd©, Kourit-Yir-Soaba, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate Ramadan in good health. He prayed for health, harmony, and prosperity across Burkina Faso, hoping for a favorable rainy season and bountiful harvests.
The High Commissioner of Kourittenga Province, Moctar Ilboudo, encouraged the community to offer prayers for social cohesion, peace, harmony, and security in the country. He also called for solidarity with internally displaced persons and the less fortunate, reinforcing the celebration’s theme of unity and compassion.
