Raising of National Colors Marks Start of New Year in Ziro Province

Ouagadougou: The raising of the national colors under the banner of patriotism and social mobilization

The traditional raising of the national colors for January 2026 was held at the high commission of Sapouy, the capital of Ziro province. This solemn ceremony, symbolizing the commitment of provincial authorities to republican values and the emblems of the State, was led by Saba Zorom, the High Commissioner of Ziro province.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event saw the participation of provincial directors, heads of services, military and paramilitary authorities, customary and religious leaders, as well as civil society organization leaders. After the national flag was raised to the backdrop of the national anthem, High Commissioner Zorom extended his New Year's greetings to the province's key figures. He urged administrative officials to ensure that the national flag is prominently displayed in their offices as a sign of patriotism and respect for national symbols.

High Commissioner Zorom also praised public administration officials, NGOs, and associations for their commendable achievements over the past year, encouraging them to sustain their efforts towards local development. He paid homage to the Defense and Security Forces, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, and the Koglweogo self-defense groups for their dedication to maintaining peace and security in Ziro Province.

Mr. Zorom took the opportunity to call on religious groups to promote messages of tolerance, peace, and social cohesion, emphasizing the importance of tranquility across the provincial territory. He concluded his speech with a call for unity and collective commitment to effectively implement government policies, while expressing hopes for peace and security throughout Ziro province.
