Queensland: Rains at Queensland village in the Kongola Constituency of the Zambezi Region delayed the setup of the mobile polling station at the village. Queensland is the home village of the President of the National Democratic Party of Namibia (NDP) and Member of Parliament (MP) Martin Brave Lukato Lukato.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Lukato, who is registered in the Kongola Constituency, managed to cast his vote after the mobile team was set up after 16h00 due to the rains. He was among the first few to cast their votes at the village. "When you get rain during elections it's a blessing and it means you will have a successful election. Many people are eager to vote and they will come and cast their votes here today before 21h00," said Lukato.
The Queensland mobile team had moved from Mitondo village, some 30 kilometres away, from where it operated from 07h00 until 13h00. "Yes, the set-up was delayed because of the rains, however, none of our materials were soaked or damaged due to the rains," said Luhamezi Mazyiu, the Presiding Officer for the mobile station.
Kongola has over 4,500 voters expected to cast their votes in the Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections.
