Raila-Ruto’s Broad Based Pact Stable, Affirms CS Wandayi

Baringo: Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has dismissed claims that the broad-based Government is facing collapse, assuring Kenyans that the coalition remains firm and focused on delivering their mandate until 2032.

According to Kenya News Agency, during the launch of rural electrification projects in Ramacha area, Mukutani Ward, Baringo South Constituency, Wandayi highlighted the stability of the government, asserting its determination to stay on course despite external speculations. He emphasized, “I want to tell the people of Baringo, do not worry at all about the Broad-based Government. It is rock solid, complete and firm.”

Wandayi outlined the coalition’s long-term plan, mentioning ongoing discussions to ensure sustained collaboration between key political leaders. He stated, “And we have said we will talk to Raila so that he continues working with Ruto until 2032.”

Reflecting on past political experiences, Wandayi recalled the crucial role the Rift Valley played during the 2007 post-election crisis. He acknowledged the support from the region, saying, “We the people from Nyanza region can never forget you people in Rift Valley; you are very special people because when we had issues in 2007, you joined us and stood firmly with Raila Odinga.”

Urging residents to remain confident in the coalition’s trajectory, Wandayi dismissed doubts about its future. He affirmed, “So now do not have even the slightest worry. We are walking with President William Ruto without a doubt, because we have looked through and we have seen that the easiest way is this one, the right route is this of the Raila-Ruto coalition.”

During his development tour, Wandayi highlighted the inclusivity of the Broad-based Government, noting that its diverse composition represented the face of Kenya and was central to fostering unity. He cited achievements in infrastructure development, expansion of rural electrification, and initiatives to lower the cost of living.

He stressed the importance of the government’s track record, emphasizing their focus on delivering results that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens. Wandayi reiterated calls for Kenyans to ignore political propaganda and support the coalition’s vision.

His remarks came in light of the joint working framework signed by President Ruto and Raila Odinga in March 2025, which seeks to address key national challenges including inclusivity, devolution, corruption, and implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.
