Rachuonyo south: During the 61st Mashujaa Day celebration held at Ragwe Health Centre ground, Rachuonyo South sub-county deputy Commissioner (DCC) Dennis Kieti advised residents to use the e-citizen portal for payments related to land services, emphasizing the need to curb corruption through non-cash transactions.
According to Kenya News Agency, the DCC highlighted the importance of transparency in government service transactions and encouraged the public to avoid cash payments. “Use the e-citizen platform to pay for government service charge. There should be no cash payment,” Kieti stated, adding that this method would help eliminate avenues of corruption in the delivery of government services. He also assured that after payment is completed through the e-citizen portal, residents should obtain a receipt and present it to the land registrar for prompt service.
The event, which saw an attendance of over 2000 residents, also featured remarks from MP Charles Ongondo Were of the Kasipul constituency. Were expr
essed concerns about the previous cash transactions at the land offices and questioned the transparency of such payments. He urged the residents to strictly adhere to the set service charges and not to pay extra money under any circumstances to obtain land title deeds.
Additionally, Were spoke on the importance of cautious land transactions within the community, advising residents to sell land only to known and trusted individuals to mitigate security risks. He commended the local security agencies for their efforts and encouraged public cooperation with the police to maintain safety in the region. Highlighting future security plans, Were announced his commitment to establishing a new police station in Ragwe, Kodera North location to strengthen law enforcement presence in the vast area.
The event was also attended by several local government officials including central Kasipul MCA Bob Opondo, East Kamagak MCA Dorine Aoko Oyugi, West Kasipul MCA Vickins Bondo, and other national and county government departm
ent heads, all united in their support for enhanced governance and service delivery in Rachuonyo South.
