Addis Ababa: The Qui§ama National Park, located 65 kilometers from the capital of Icolo e Bengo province, will soon be classified as Angola’s first biosphere reserve, the Environment Minister Ana Paula Pereira told ANGOP on Thursday.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the classification of the biosphere, whose concept is the totality of all the ecosystems of the planet earth, is imminent. To this end, work is underway with the Ministry of Education and UNESCO.

Ana Paula de Carvalho Pereira made the statement at the end of a meeting with the Governor of Icolo and Bengo, Auzlio Jacob, with whom she discussed the issue of locating a space for the construction of a Waste Recovery Center.

The Minister said that the Park now has better conditions to welcome tourists, as investments have been made and will continue to be made in infrastructure, technical and technological resources and security.

As an example, Ana Paula de Carvalho Pereira cited the reintroduction of animals from Namibia, with more giraffes and other species on the way, as well as a school for environmental inspectors, where inspectors from the Luando Regional Park, where the Giant Sable Antelope Sanctuary is located, were recently trained.
