Putin Criticizes Green Climate Agenda as Neocolonialism for Africa

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has labeled the green climate agenda for African countries as a form of neocolonialism, citing the prohibitive costs of transitioning to modern environmental technologies. He expressed concerns over the financial and technological dependency being imposed on African nations. According to Burkina Information Agency, Putin criticized the instrumentalization of the climate agenda, which includes the push for African countries to abandon nuclear power, coal, and hydrocarbons. He questioned whether Africa could realistically manage without these energy sources and argued that emerging countries are being forced to adopt technologies that, while environmentally beneficial, are financially out of reach. Putin asserted that these countries are not provided with the necessary funds to afford such technologies, leading to increased dependency on Western technologies and loans. He highlighted the unfavorable terms of these loans, which he described as difficult to repay, thus r einforcing his claim of a neocolonial strategy.
