Zambezi: Electoral Commission of Namibia's (ECN) Regional Education Officer, Sammy Muhau, has urged residents of Zambezi to inspect the provisional voters' register which is on display from Friday to Monday across all constituency offices in the region. Muhau, in a local radio announcement on Thursday, said several ECN teams will be on the ground to display the provisional voters' register in the eight constituencies of the region, namely, Judea Lyabboloma; Linyanti; Kongola; Sibbinda; Katima Rural; Katima Urban; Kabbe North and Kabbe South.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Muhau emphasized that it is the responsibility of the residents to review the register and object to any names that should not appear on it. The provisional voters' register is released to allow the public to lodge objections before the final voters' register is gazetted on 24 October 2025. Muhau highlighted concerns over allegations that individuals were being transported to register in constituencies where they do not reside in an attempt to influence election results, and he encouraged residents to verify the information in the register.
Muhau explained that a form is available for individuals who wish to object to names on the register. This exercise is critical to ensure accuracy and prevent the inclusion of ghost voters, as family members can object to the names of deceased loved ones appearing on the register. Zambezi, with a population of over 142,000 people according to the 2023 National Housing and Population Census, currently has over 54,000 registered voters across its constituencies. Out of the eight constituencies, only Katima Urban and Katima Rural will have two separate voter registers due to their respective local authorities, Katima Mulilo Town Council and Bukalo Village Council.
