Provincial Phase of USSU-BF Concludes Successfully in Koulpelogo

Koulpelogo: The provincial phase of the USSU-BF concludes with reasons for satisfaction. The provincial competitions of the Union of School and University Sports of Burkina Faso (USSU-BF) in Koulpelogo ended on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in Yargatenga and Ouargaye, after a month of sporting activities which saw a strong mobilization of actors from the educational and sporting world, to the great satisfaction of the organizers.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the competitions, which began on March 17, 2026, on the Ouargaye multi-sports field with a U17 girls' handball match, took place in two zones, notably in Cinkanse, in the commune of Yargatenga, and in Ouargaye. In total, eight establishments took part in this edition, mobilizing nearly 200 athletes involved in several disciplines, namely football, handball, volleyball, basketball, athletics, and wrestling.

The closing ceremony was marked by the athletics finals, including the races and jumps, as well as by the traditional wrestling matches, disciplines which generated particular enthusiasm from the public. Despite the difficult context, the different teams showed determination and sportsmanship, reflecting the students' desire to express themselves and surpass themselves through sport.

The provincial director in charge of sports, Moustapha Yangane, expressed his satisfaction with the smooth running of the activities. He praised the commitment of the various stakeholders and the mobilization of the participants, despite the security constraints. For the organizers, this edition was a success in light of the turnout and the smooth running of the activities. They also expressed their gratitude to the local authorities and partners for their support.

The best athletes and teams will represent the province of Koulpelogo at the regional phase, with the ambition of worthily defending their colors.
