Provincial Director of the Environment Takes Office in Comoé, Burkina Faso

BANFORA, Amidou Idrissa Massa, the high commissioner of Comoé province, officiated the installation of the new Provincial Director of the Environment, Daouda Traoré, on October 30, 2023. The ceremony marked the official commencement of Traoré’s tenure in Banfora, Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the installation event was attended by key figures of the province, alongside collaborators and partners of the environmental management body. Traoré, previously serving as a water and forest inspector, now steps into his role, succeeding Commander Abdoulaye Ouédraogo. Ouédraogo held the position for four years and seven months and has been newly appointed as the Provincial Director of the Environment of Namentenga.

Emile Yaogo, a representative of the provincial environment directorate’s staff, extended gratitude to Commander Ouédraogo Abdoulaye, praising his dedication and managerial aptitude. Yaogo credited Ouédraogo’s leadership for substantial accomplishments during his term. He also welcomed Commander Traoré and assured him of the staff’s full support.

In his address, Commander Daouda Traoré expressed gratitude to the national authorities and specifically to the Minister in charge of the environment for the trust placed in him to lead Comoé’s provincial directorate of the Environment. He called for support from the staff, administrative authorities, and all active forces to help him succeed in his mission.

Traoré acknowledged the commendable work of his predecessor and committed to building upon these achievements. He recognized the significant challenges ahead, particularly in the context of insecurity and population displacement that puts pressure on the environment. Despite these challenges, Traoré affirmed his commitment to work diligently and uphold the trust bestowed upon him.

Amadou Idrissa Massa, the high commissioner of Comoé province, expressed gratitude to the outgoing director for his effective implementation of public policies related to environmental protection and service to the province. He congratulated Traoré on his new position, encouraging him to maintain open communication with his colleagues and wishing Ouédraogo success in his future endeavors.

It is noteworthy that Daouda Traoré’s appointment as the new Provincial Director for the Environment of Comoé was officially decided at a Council of Ministers meeting held on October 4, 2023.
