Hound©: The Provincial Council of Civil Society Organizations of Tuy organized a training workshop on mining policies in Burkina Faso from March 24 to 25, 2025, in Hound©. The event aimed to strengthen the capacities of civil society actors in Tuy by enhancing their understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as the economic, social, and environmental issues related to mining activities.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop was conducted over two days and featured a team from the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Quarries, led by the Director of Legal Affairs and Litigation, Tousma Dodbzanga. Participants were offered insights into the innovations in Burkina Faso’s new mining code and local content law, with discussions covering seven key topics related to mining policies.



Gnihanlo Lanou, President of the Provincial Council of CSOs of Tuy, emphasized the importance of civil society actors being well-versed in mining regulations to effectively defend the interests of the population. The training was lauded by Nass© Ou©draogo, Director of Social Performance at Hound© Gold Operation (HGO), who noted that the initiative aligns with the mine’s governance and engagement policy, fostering better communication between civil society and stakeholders.



The workshop was inaugurated by the High Commissioner of Tuy Province, Issiaka Segda, who expressed his appreciation for the training and the Ministry of Mines’ involvement in educating civil society actors on mining policies.
